Fire Investigations - October 6-10, 2025

$900.00

Iron Point will be offering a fire scene investigations course in 2025.

Structure and vehicle fires can be overwhelming and confusing to the investigator, the sheer size and magnitude can cause both safety and investigative issues.   This workshop is a comprehensive “how to” on the “in’s and out’s” of fire investigations. We have designed this workshop for the investigator with limited to no fire investigation experience literally taking you from “cradle to the grave” in the fire investigation process.  The course candidate will learn fire ground safety protocols, fire pattern analysis, area of origin determination, cause determination, competent sources of ignition, investigator bias, along with the proper handling of exhibits.

This 40-hour workshop will involve both in-class and in-field sessions with hands-on burn cell investigations so proper PPE and proper safety gear will be a requirement.  The workshop will be held at the Springwater Fire Service – Minesing, Ontario with the fireground portion in Elmvale and will be assisted by members of the Office of the Fire Marshal.

There are no required text books etc. for this workshop, however it is strongly suggested that those taking this training obtain the following books for their respective offices;

1)     NFPA 921 Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations 2024 Edition – National Fire Protection Association.

2)     Kirk’s Fire Investigation 9th Edition – Icove, David J., Haynes, Gerald A. – Library of Congress.
